Across a school year, this longitudinal study (three waves) examined the relationship between children's motivations for unbiased responses and their attitudes towards ethnic outgroups, considering both overall differences between individuals (means and changes over time) and variations within individuals (specific time points). Over five years, 744 children (47% female), 93% of whom were born in Quebec, Canada, and over 50% from low socioeconomic backgrounds, underwent yearly assessments. Parental expressions of prosocial behavior and negations were examined to ascertain their connection to the amount and range of spatial language generated by parents. Promoting effective communication skills among caregivers of individuals with dementia (PwD) is critical, as it has been shown to decrease the behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) in PwD and lessen the chance of caregiver burnout. However, the acquisition of these abilities usually demands one-on-one training that emphasizes emotional engagement, and this can be a costly proposition. To aid in the acquisition of such skills, we propose, in this study, affective training via augmented reality (AR). A nursing training doll and see-through AR glasses are incorporated into the system for comprehensive training in practical nursing skills and fostering emotional responses, such as appropriate eye contact and communication. The 38 nursing students were the subjects of the experiment conducted. The participants were stratified into two groups: the Doll group, utilizing just a doll in their training regimen, and the AR group, leveraging both a doll and an AR system during their training. Eye contact demonstrably increased, and face-to-face distance and angle decreased in the Augmented Reality (AR) participant group; conversely, no significant changes were observed in the Doll group. Post-training, the augmented reality group showed a notable and significant increase in their empathy scores. Our research on the correlation between personality and modifications to physical abilities indicated a significant positive correlation between the rate of eye contact improvement and extraversion in the augmented reality group.
